Canada Grant Now Available to Food Sector for Hiring Graduates
The Career Focus Program 2 will contribute 50% up to $20,000 towards employing a graduate of a Canadian university, college, CEGEP or provincially certified program focusing on biological, agricultural, food or veterinary science or applied technology. Graduates need to be between 15 and 30 years old, out of school, and have graduated in the past three years. Also, they must have Canadian citizenship with permanent residence and not in receipt of Employment Insurance benefits. Offered work positions should be project-focused, last a minimum of 30 hours per week for 4 months, and provide meaningful job experience towards significantly increasing the graduate’s chance of securing long-term employment or self-employment. Employers need to be a member of the Food Processing Human Resource Council (cost: maximum $299.00) Career Focus 2 funding is limited e.g. 60 to 70 positions across Canada. Therefore, it is recommended that interested parties submit an application as soon as possible.
