Grant for Regional Business Partnerships
The Rural Economic Development (RED) program will contribute 50% towards the planning and implementation of initiatives that will retain or create employment/economic growth in communities with populations 100,000 or less. Funding is available to undertaking/develop strategies, research, studies, plans or analysis related to but not limited to economic development, business retention and development, marketing, downtown revitalization, employment creation and training, as well as global competitiveness. Support can also be requested for implementation of initiatives related to yet not exclusive of:
- Business/sector development and diversification. Business fairs, mentoring, training, diversification, supply chains and best practices sharing, rehabilitation of cultural, heritage or tourist attractions, etc.
- Regional marketing, promotional and/or branding activities. Website development, branding strategies, marketing, etc.
- Human capital and skills development, attraction and retention. Youth, newcomer and labour attraction/retention, programs for leadership development, entrepreneurship, mentorship, as well as industry and sector training, etc.
Eligible costs include consulting and professional fees (e.g. legal, architectural, engineering) as well as minor capital (e.g. renovations, retrofitting, software), administration and travel expenses. RED does not support major capital items such as land, buildings, major infrastructure and equipment. Although there is no limit to the support that can be requested, awarded funding will be determined by the amount of stakeholder financial investment, identified/resulting economic and employment benefits to rural Ontario, as well as, the demand for the program’s $12.5 million three-year budget. For a limited number of exemplary initiatives, RED may contribute up to 90%.

Program ends in four weeks!
The Enterprise Program will pay 50% of a new employee wages for the first six months of employment. Eligible employees are recent graduates (within the last 5 years) of a university degree program in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Maximum funding is $10,000 for Undergraduates and $15,000 for Masters and Doctorate graduates. Applicants must have less than 1,000 employees and apply prior to hiring eligible candidates. There is no limit to the number of employees that one applicant can hire under the program. Please note, deadline for applications is Friday, September 13, 2013.

Grant to hire a geek
The Career Connect program will contribute 50% up to $16,000 towards the hiring of post-secondary graduates for IT work placements. Employers must offer work terms of between 3 and 8 months at a full-time capacity of at least 30 hours per week. Eligible placements include but are not limited to the following information-technology fields:
• Software & Hardware Engineering
• Software Testing
• Web Design & Development
• Database Administration
• Help Desk & Technical Support
• Computer Programming
• Project Management
• Network Support
• Technical Writing
• Graphic Design
Graduates must be 15 to 30 years old, unemployed, not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits, and have Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee status. Work placements must be completed by February 28, 2014. Positions are limited and INAC Services urges employers to apply as soon as possible.

Funding available for work placements in food processing facilities
The Career Focus program will contribute 50% funding up to $20,000 towards work placements in food processing facilities. Employers must offer work terms of between 4 and 8 months at a full-time capacity of at least 30 hours per week. All occupations are eligible for funding, including but not limited to placements in:
- Business Administration
- Marketing , Promotion, and Sales
- Quality Assurance & Food Safety
- Processing Operations
- Engineering
- Product Development
- Food Science
Eligible candidates must be post-secondary graduates who are between 15 and 30 years old, unemployed, not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits, and have Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee status.
Application intake begins Thursday May 2, 2013. Positions are limited, and INAC Services urges employers to apply as soon as possible.

Funding soon available for work placements in selected sectors
The Sectoral Career Focus program is reopening soon and will cost-share the hiring of post-secondary graduates for work placements. Eligible employers must offer work terms of between 4 and 12 months at a full-time capacity of at least 30 hours per week. The fund will be distributed over selected sectors and will include support for 50% of wages up to maximums greater than last year’s, which were:
- $15,000 per Food Processing placement
- $10,000 per Information Technology placement
- $15,000 per Biotechnology placement
- $13,750 per Printing & Graphic Communications placement
- $12,750 per Supply Chain & Logistics placement
- $15,000 per Steel Trades placement
- $12,500 per Energy sector placement
- $12,500 per Aviation &Aerospace placement
Preference may be given to employers holding sector-council memberships. Graduates must be 15 to 30 years old, unemployed, not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits, and have Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee status.
