Program Supports Industry Collaboration
The Next Generation Advanced Manufacturing Superclusters (NGen) program advertises grants of up to 44.4%* for collaborative, industry-led projects that result in long-term benefits for Canada’s manufacturing sector. Eligible activities include:
- Technology adoption/adaptation and process scale-up
- R&D, testing and demonstrations
- Training and skills development
Funding is offered for projects that strengthen competitiveness, drive innovation and technology investment, generate new export opportunities and accelerate business growth for Canada’s manufacturing sector. Eligible expenses include:
- Salaries and Wages
- Sub-Contractor and Consultant Fees (up to 30% of total project costs)
- Equipment Purchases (up to 30% of total project costs)
- Facility Rentals
- Materials and Supplies
- Patent Filing and IP Protection
- Other Project-Related Costs
Activities must be undertaken and financed by 3 or more industry partners, including at least one Canadian company with fewer than 500 employees and less than $1 billion annual revenue. No one partner may receive more than 70% of awarded funding. Projects must be completed no later than March 31, 2023.
*Although advertising 44.4%, funding, approved applicants must pay NGen a fee equal to 2.5% of total project costs before receiving any reimbursement. For example, partners investing $5 million will need to pay NGen $125,000 prior to receiving approved funding of up to $2,220,000 (44.4%) against future expenses.
