Hiring, Hiring Incentive
Ontario Youth Employment Fund
Ontario’s Youth Employment Fund will contribute up to $6,800 towards the wages and training of new employees. Eligible employees are to be between 15 and 29 years of age, unemployed, not attending school, and residents of Ontario. Employers must be licensed to operate in Ontario, be compliant with employment-related legislation, plus be offering job placements that do not displace current or laid off employees. Priority will be given to fund on-the-job training and to offset the risk of hiring youth employees with less experience. Additionally, eligible employees can receive up to $1,000 to cover costs such as transportation to work, and job-related tools. There is no limit on how many employees can be hired under this program, however, placements must be a minimum of four months in duration.
