GOVERNMENT INCENTIVES SUPPORT THE RESOURCE SECTOR IN TIMES OF ECONOMIC PROSPERITY AS WELL AS DISPARITY
Resource based companies are often the economic lifeline of remote and rural communities. For this reason, government offers a variety of incentives to support mining and forest sector businesses. Often these businesses do not file for R&D tax rebates because of having years of carried forward losses that reduce their taxable profitability to zero. However, there are also government grants and interest free loans available that can help these companies become more efficient, reduce waste, improve the environment, increase sales, train employees and find work for laid off staff.
For resource sector Clients, INAC has secure funding for:
- testing the use of wood sludge as a cover for reducing acid leeching on mind tailing ponds
- demonstrating freeze wall technology for open pit mining
- using fish to identify harmful effluents in pulp water discharge
- developing temporary shelters using recycled corrugate
- using talc and starch as a filler in coated paper
- marketing of eco-tourism on managed forestry lands
- using pulp and fiberboard waste for bio-energy
- labour force reduction by offering workers back to school and start you own business incentives
