UP TO $1.5 MILLION TO HIRE AND TRAIN NEW EMPLOYEES IN ALBERTA
FUNDING RETROACTIVE TO MAY 20, 2021
The Alberta Jobs Now Program will contribute 25% up to $25,000 towards hiring and training unemployed and/or underemployed Albertans (i.e. currently working less than 30 hours a week). Positions must be full-time (30+ hours/week), lasting a minimum of 52 weeks. Supported instruction is to be relevant to the job position, delivered by a third-party either online, onsite or in a classroom. Eligible expenses include course/tuition/student fees, as well as associated textbooks, software, materials and examination costs. Training must start and be completed within the duration of the grant and, if possible, occur in Alberta. Applicants can request funding for up to 20 employees per intake session. There are 3 intake sessions: May 20-August 31, 2021, September 15- December 31, 2021, and a third intake to be later announced if support remains. Candidates are to be hired within 120 days of the announced session but not before May 20, 2021. Up to two new hire replacements are allowed per funded position. Funding is limited and offered on a first come first served basis.
